Great attitudes and strong desire have taken the Corsicana High School Theatre Company places. The ensemble is set to compete in the UIL bi-district meet for One Act Play Friday, March 22 at Terrell High School.
The troupe advanced to the meet after its March 1 district performance of “The Book of Everything,” with four students earning medals. Sarah Towles was named Best Performer, Jordan Dragoo won Outstanding Technician, Kaitlyn Warren made the All-Star cast, and Meagan Jonte earned an honorable mention.
“Tiger Theatre Company has far surpassed all my expectations of what a theatre company can be,” said Brett Butler, Corsicana High School Theatre Director. “The students are respectful, responsible, and passionate about theatre. Whether on stage or off, in the spotlight or running the light board, each of them just want to be a part of it. They are a fantastic team and support each other on and off the stage.”
Theatre Troupe Social Chair Bettsy Grimaldo encouraged students and parents to get involved in the program.
“Our shows and performances are always open to the public and audience turnout is the most efficient way to get involved,” she said. “We pride ourselves on fostering a fun and creative environment where everyone is welcome.
“You do not have to be a social butterfly or be a great singer to be in theatre. Be willing to work as a team to do what you like most, expressing yourself. There is more than just acting, there's carpentry, dancing, improv, set design, costumes, lights, makeup, and even stage management.”

Buenas actitudes y un profundo interés han llevado a la Compañía de Teatro de la Preparatoria Corsicana a lugares importantes. El conjunto está listo para competir en la competencia bidistrital de UIL para One Act Play el viernes 22 de marzo en la Preparatoria Terrell.
El grupo avanzó a la competencia después de su presentación distrital el 1 de marzo de “El libro de todo”, con cuatro estudiantes ganando medallas. Sarah Towles fue nombrada Mejor Intérprete, Jordan Dragoo ganó como Técnico Destacado, Kaitlyn Warren formó parte del elenco All-Star y Meagan Jonte obtuvo una mención de honor.
“Tiger Theatre Company ha superado con creces todas mis expectativas sobre lo que puede ser una compañía de teatro”, dijo Brett Butler, director de teatro de la Preparatoria Corsicana. “Los estudiantes son respetuosos, responsables y apasionados por el teatro. Ya sea en el escenario o fuera de él, en el centro de atención o frente al tablero de luces, cada uno de ellos simplemente quiere ser parte de ello. Son un equipo fantástico y se apoyan mutuamente dentro y fuera del escenario”.
La presidenta social del grupo de teatro, Bettsy Grimaldo, animó a los estudiantes y padres a participar en el programa.
"Nuestros espectáculos y actuaciones están siempre abiertos al público y la participación del público es la forma más eficaz de participar", afirmó. “Nos enorgullecemos de fomentar un ambiente divertido y creativo donde todos son bienvenidos.
“No es necesario ser un sociable ni un gran cantante para estar en el teatro. Estar dispuesto a trabajar en equipo para hacer lo que más te gusta, expresarte. Hay más que solo actuación, hay carpintería, baile, improvisación, escenografía, vestuario, luces, maquillaje e incluso dirección de escena”.
